Community Development Programs:
MBMAN is involved in different community development outreach activities, working with underprivileged and disadvantage people. Some of these activities are being managed through internal resources and external support is being accessed for some other activities.
Community Empowerment for Livelihood Program (CEFL)
MBMAN is running "Community Empowerment for Livelihood Program" for poor and disadvantage people, in partnership with Action Aid Nepal (AAN). The major activities include REFLECT Circle, Child Literacy Class, formation and mobilization of Child Clubs, Women's Groups and as well as groups of Senior citizens. The program has initiated integration of livestock development and breed improvement for ensuring livelihood of such disadvantaged community. This program covers Sundarpur, Dulari, Indrapur and Bayarban VDCs of Morang, and Lakhanpur VDC and Damak Municipality of Jhapa districts. Action Aid Nepal is the major partner of the program.
Intensive Livestock Development Project
Transfer of Technology has been one of the major components of the interventions of MBMAN. It has started Intensive Livestock Development Project, for capacity building and technology transfer of small livestock farmers. In partnership with HEIFER International Nepal, this project covers Pathari, Letang, Ithara VDCs in Morang and Topgachi VDC of Jhapa districts. It covers capacity building as major activity followed by the establishment of livestock breeding units, farmer to farmer gift of livestock and mobilization of saving and credit groups, linkage with milk cooperative and its capacity building and market linkage.
Integrated Livestock Development Campaign (ILDC):
In collaboration with the District Livestock Service Offices of Morang and Jhapa districts MBMAN is running Intergraded Livestock Development Campaign in the east-west highway corridor of the Mai River (Jhapa) to Budhi River (Morang). The objective is to develop fodder farming, and herbal production in the community forests, and improve local breeds for optimal productivity, capacity building of farmers cooperatives, milk cooperatives.
Commercial Agriculture Development Campaign (CADC):
With the main objective of Commercialization of Agriculture Products this campaign has been started in 27 VDCs of Morang district towards north of Sunsari-Moang Irrigation system. All these fall outside the command area of the irrigation project. The support of this campaign will help sustenance agriculture develop into commercial agriculture, by exploring all local potentials. This includes growing high value crops potential to the area.
Goat Raising for Poverty Alleviation:
MBMAN has started Goat Farming for Poverty Alleviation Program in Urlabari-6 in partnership with District Livestock Service Office, Morang. The program has targeted to uplift 300 families, but as of now, has reached 150 families through goat passing as Gift Pass-On Program. Â
Education Loan Program:
Academy has offered Education Loan Scheme for those interested youth, especially from the poor and disadvantage groups for their vocational training of Community Livestock Assistant and Community Agriculture Assistant (CLA and CAA). These trainees, who are under SLC, enjoy the facility of target group education loan to meet their tuition fee, food and accommodation expenses. The CLA and CAA is one year non-formal technical education course.
The academy also provides similar education loan to other vocation education sectors, for a limited number of students. Poverty Alleviation Fund (PAF) is the major partner of the program. The main objective of this scheme is to influence and advocate government policy to education loan scheme in Nepal.
